A healthy green canopy makes our neighbourhoods cooler, cleaner, and more beautiful while creating a stronger connection to nature. If elected, Ananya Majumder will work to expand and protect Ward 2’s urban tree canopy by supporting strategic tree planting, encouraging native and climate-resilient species, and identifying neighbourhood areas where more shade and greenery are needed. Green Parks & Healthy Kids
Bring Back Water Fountains for Kids in City Parks
I will advocate for accessible drinking fountains and bottle-refill stations in high-use Mississauga parks, especially near playgrounds, sports fields, splash pads and waterfront areas.
Our children should be able to drink clean, safe tap water while playing, without families having to rely on single-use plastic bottles.
My goal:

A simple investment in our parks can mean less plastic waste, healthier children and a greener Mississauga.
WARD 2 FIRST — but a greener Mississauga for everyone.
Mississauga already has experience with hydration stations, and its parks planning documents specifically recommend considering hydration stations while recognizing that maintenance and operating costs need to be managed.
Operational Excellence — Cleaner, Better-Maintained Parks
Our parks should be clean, safe and welcoming for everyone.
I will advocate for:
- More garbage and recycling bins in busy parks, playgrounds and waterfront areas.
- More frequent garbage collection and park clean-ups, especially during weekends, holidays and peak summer months.
- Better monitoring of high-use areas so overflowing bins and litter are addressed quickly.
- Working with residents and community groups to encourage “Keep Our Parks Clean” initiatives.

On 8th Sept. 2026, I advocated for you, at the formal deposition that was held concerning these critical issues at the City Hall. I believe transparency is vital, which is why you need to know that outside of the founding members and the other official parties legally required to be there, I was the only person who showed up to stand with you and represent our community’s interests.
As your Ward 2 Councillor Candidate, my commitment to this community is absolute. Actions speak louder than words, and showing up when it matters most is exactly what you can expect from me. I will continue to attend every meeting, deposition, and forum to ensure your voices are never ignored.
